Denmark: ”Danish umbrella organization accepts fine for decisions concerning camping cards”

Campingrådet has accepted to pay a fine of DKK 400,000 (€ 53,533) for infringement of the Danish Competition Act.

Campingrådet is an umbrella organization composed of 12 associations representing campsite owners, campsite user organizations and other organizations.

Part of the infringement concerns price fixing in relation to the sale of Camping Key Europe cards (CKE Camping card). Another part of the infringement concerns that the campsites in question should only accept CKE as a valid camping card, which meant that competing camping cards were excluded.

In May 2017 the Danish Competition Council decided that DK-Camp had violated the Danish Competition Act. In April 2018 the Danish Appeals Tribunal upheld the decision from the Competition Council.

In December 2019, DK-Camp, a member of Campingrådet, accepted a fine of DKK 300,000 (€ 40,149) for the infringement.
