The Competition Council is hosting a conference on Competition & Digitization


The Digital Era is upon us. 

Today digitization is an integrated part of the entire production process from development through production to customer relations. Often part of the consumer experience – or the entire consumer experience - is digital.

Digitization holds great potential gains for productivity and for consumers, but there are also certain challenges. Some of the challenges concern competition and enforcement of competition rules. For this reason, competition authorities focus their attention on the effect of digitization. The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority have recently established a new digital platform division aimed at strengthening enforcement of competition rules in the digital area.

On this conference we will hear from the Simon Kollerup, the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs as well as Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President-designate for a Europe fit for the Digital Age and Competition Commissioner at the European Commission. We will also have presentations and panel discussions with Tommaso Valletti, Proffessor of Imperial College Business School and Cristina Caffarra, Vicepresident CRA.

The conference is consists of three sessions:

  • The relevance of digitization for competition and enforcement.
  • Digital platforms.
  • Market definition on digital markets.

Participation in the conference is free of charge, but there is a limited number of seats available and the principle is first-come-first-served.
